Joe did make a promise to the small crowd around his retirement party that they would purchase one item from each store in town. The good thing for Joe was that many of the stores had recently went out of business and his wife’s favorite clothing shop was one of them. The downside was that the bicycle shop had just gotten some diamondback bikes in and Joe knew that he had to have those.
Joe made a decision which would allow them to get away from the township during the night time. Then they wouldn’t have folks preventing them from leaving.
